Kamloops Chamber of Commerce is pleased with the accelerating Trans Mountain Expansion Project construction

Kamloops – February 11, 2020 – The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce is pleased to hear that construction for the Trans Mountain Expansion project is accelerating and pipe is in the ground.

More than 2,900 people are working on the project today, with that number expected to grow in the months ahead. The Trans Mountain Expansion Project has seen significant changes and improvements since being introduced to the public and has set new standards for Indigenous participation and inclusion.

The estimated cost of the Expansion reflects the realities of enhanced environmental protections, security, quality assurance and Indigenous inclusion – however this project remains to be commercially viable and is on course to generate a positive return at commercial levels.

The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce is an advocate for this project and the positive economic impact it will have for the local business community.  Canadians from coast-to-coast will benefit from the economic and tax contributions generated by the project once it is in operation, in addition to the payments that will be paid to the BC government.

    Quote:
Joshua Knaak, President of the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors:
“Construction is accelerating on this project, which is important not only for businesses in Kamloops and BC, but for the Canadian economy.”

    Sincerely,

    Joshua Knaak
    President, Board of Directors
