Nominees for 2012 Business Excellence Awards announced

Today the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce and TD Canada Trust announced the nominations for the 2012 Business Excellence Awards.

“This year we received 244 nominations for fifteen award categories,” stated Maurice Hindle, President of the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce.  “A total of 168 Kamloops businesses were nominated.”

The 27th annual Business Excellence Awards are brought to the community by the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce and TD Canada Trust. The event celebrates the Kamloops business community and highlights 16 award winners in total (Business of the Year is chosen from the winners of the other 15 awards).

“We want to thank TD Canada Trust for supporting this program,” continued Mr. Hindle.  “We value TD’s partnership and their dedication to our community.”

The gala awards banquet and ceremony is scheduled for October 13th at the Kamloops Convention Centre.  “This prestigious event is always a sell-out. Dignitaries, business leaders and the media are all invited to attend this exciting evening,” stated Hindle.

The timeline leading up to the gala event is as follows:

•    August – An independent selection committee, comprised of over 40 business leaders, scores each nominee

•    Early September – KPMG tabulates the scores and informs the selection committees of their top 3 finalists in each award category

•    September – Selection committee interviews all the finalists to determine the award recipients

•    September 10 – Finalists are revealed at a Chamber function hosted by Kamloops Ford Lincoln at their new location (940 Halston Avenue).  The media and public are invited.

•    September 11 – Tickets go on sale to the public

•    October 13 – Business Excellence Awards Gala at Kamloops Convention Centre
