Business community meets with Environment Minister Kent

The business community, represented by Venture Kamloops and the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, met with Environment Minister Peter Kent today to discuss the proposed Ajax Mine project.

Both organizations presented their views on a federal panel review this morning during a brief meeting in City Hall.

The points presented by the group were:

1) With the information available to us, it is our belief that there is no merit to a full panel review process and therefore we are against it.

2) Our concern is that the outcome of this decision will influence investors’ decisions going forward for this type of activity not just in British Columbia, but across Canada.

3) How can our organizations assist in supporting this process?

Both Venture Kamloops and the Chamber will be working together to engage interested individuals from the business community.
