2008 Business Excellence Awards –Nominees Named!
 
Nominations for the 2008 Business Excellence Awards have officially closed and tickets for the Gala Dinner, which will be held in the TRU Grand Hall on October 18th are on sale!
 
The Business Excellence Awards is an annual event organized by the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, which celebrates the very best Kamloops business has to offer.
 
“We’re really excited about the response we’ve received this year from the business community,” said Rick Heney, President of the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce. “We set new records as 177 businesses were nominated and a total of 278 nominations were made. We attribute our success to the support TD Canada Trust Small Business Banking provided by having nomination stations set up in each of the TD banks throughout Kamloops. We also want to recognize the various associations and organizations that encouraged their membership and partners to nominate a business.”
 
Tickets for the Gala Dinner – the pinnacle event of the awards – is scheduled for October 18th in the TRU Grand Hall and can be purchased online at www.KamloopsChamber.ca or by contacting the Chamber office at 250-372-7722.
 
“Tickets for this event sell out every year,” Heney continued. “It’s the premiere business awards dinner in Kamloops and it’s pretty amazing to witness the excitement that’s generated by all who attend, whether they are supporting a finalist or are there to enjoy the festivities, everyone has a memorable time.”
 
Prior to the Gala Dinner, a number of important events will take place to ensure that all nominees are given the appropriate consideration. Currently a Selection Committee comprised of a variety of business and community leaders in Kamloops is reviewing all of the nominations and are preparing to select the three finalists for each of the 14 award categories. 
 
To celebrate all of the businesses who were nominated and to announce the three finalists in each award category an “invitation only” Nominees Reception will take place at the Aberdeen Mall in September.
 
On September 18th, once the finalists have been announced the real fun begins! Chamber members have the exclusive opportunity to vote for their favourite business or business person of the year. Voting will take place from September 18th to October 2nd and during that time the Chamber website receives a flood of visits from members who can electronically cast their vote. Last year the Chamber website saw a dramatic increase in the number of visitors as members were researching background information posted on each of the finalists so an informed vote could be made. When the voting is all-said-and-done, the winners are announced at the Gala Dinner and presented with a certificate for their achievement, a star award, great media exposure and the rights to use the Business Excellence Awards logo.
