BC Chamber membership endorses Kamloops’ business resolutions

At their Annual General Meeting in Penticton May 24-26, members of the BC Chamber of Commerce voted to support seven resolutions brought forward by Kamloops chamber members.

This resounding support means that the BC Chamber will now work to advocate on the Kamloops Chamber membership’s behalf. Resolutions adopted will help effect change in government policy to improve conditions for business and support a healthy community both provincially and nationally.

The seven Kamloops adopted policies are:

  1. BC’s Costly Carbon Tax

Why make BC business less competitive?

  1. Exploring Public Engagement on Major New Taxation Initiatives

Consultation is key...don't make the same mistake twice!

  1. Amend the Wood First Act

Wouldn't you want the best product for the job?

  1. Revise Government Funding of Human Rights Complaints

Pay to play

  1. Principles For Program Review

Review, reduce, don't recycle

  1. Truck Driver Training For the Road Ahead

Putting safety in the driver's seat

  1. Canada Border Services Agency – Customs & Immigration Programs

Customer service = Customs service

Kamloops showed leadership by submitting 20% of all proposed resolutions from across the province and by having the largest contingent in attendance.

“Kamloops’ success at the BC Chamber conference demonstrates the power of the Kamloops policy process and our provincial influence,” states Policy Committee Chair, Peter Aylen.  “Our Kamloops delegates presented excellent business cases for each of our resolutions and I am proud to work alongside each of them.”
