Advocacy

One of the Kamloops Chamber's most important roles is that of an advocate for members and business. In this role, the Kamloops Chamber works with all levels of government - municipal, regional district, provincial, and federal - to promote the interest of business in our community.

Often this work takes place quietly in response to emerging issues, at the direction of the Board of Directors. However the Kamloops Chamber is unique in BC in that it hosts an annual Policy Session, so that Members can present their own resolutions for consideration and adoption by their peers.

The local policy session is held prior to the BC Chamber and Canadian Chamber annual general meetings (AGMs). Appropriate local policies are submitted to provincial and/or national policy review committees for review, and are then presented for debate by provincial and/or national assemblies of representatives of local chambers just like ours.

Contact the Chamber for guidelines on submitting proposed resolutions and for voting on the proposed resolutions.
